Contemporary gallery environment representing a site-specific Otegui Atelier commission

PRIVATE & SITE-SPECIFIC COMMISSIONS

A work developed
for its context.

For private collectors, architecture, interiors and selected projects. The artwork begins with the space — not with a catalogue.

OTEGUI ATELIER · VALENCIA, SPAIN

THE COMMISSION

Tailored does not mean customised.
It means conceived from the beginning.

A commissioned work is developed in response to a specific place, scale, atmosphere and artistic intention.

Otegui Atelier considers architecture, sightlines, natural and artificial light, surrounding materials and the desired relationship between artwork and viewer. The result is then developed through the artistic, technical and fabrication process appropriate to the piece.

FROM CONTEXT TO OBJECT

A commission,
step by step.

Every project is different. The sequence below is a framework rather than a formula, allowing the work to evolve while preserving artistic direction.

01

Context

Plans, photographs, dimensions, materials and the intended location establish the spatial framework.

02

Proposition

The Atelier develops an artistic direction in response to the space and the desired presence of the work.

03

Development

Scale, geometry, material, finish and visual studies refine the proposal before production.

04

Fabrication

Specialist craft and advanced processes are selected according to the physical demands of the piece.

05

Placement

Presentation, base, anchoring, transport and installation are considered as part of the completed work.

SITE-SPECIFIC THINKING

The space becomes part of the brief.

A work can be tested within its intended environment before physical production begins.

Digital studies can explore proportion, placement, reflection, finish and scale — helping both the Atelier and the client understand how an idea may inhabit a particular architectural setting before final fabrication decisions are made.

MATERIAL · PROCESS · POSSIBILITY

The method follows
the artistic intent.

The Atelier is not defined by a single technology or production technique. Depending on the work, a project may call for traditional craft, casting, machining, additive methods, robotic processes, digital modelling or a combination of specialist approaches.

When required, Otegui Atelier brings together external fabrication expertise around the project. The technology remains behind the work; artistic direction remains at its centre.

One directionArtistic authorship remains coherent across the process.
Selected expertiseSpecialists are chosen according to the work, not the other way around.

PRIVATE PROJECTS

Discretion can be part of the commission.

Private projects may be developed confidentially and, where appropriate, remain unpublished. The level of documentation, visibility and attribution can be discussed according to the nature of the commission.
